Creatinine, Blood

Alternate Names

  • Serum Creatinine

Creatinine is a waste product produced during normal muscle activity, and blood levels usually do not change day-to-day. Creatinine is excreted by the kidneys, and blood levels are used to diagnose kidney function. Creatinine is usually measured along with BUN, but creatinine levels are not affected by how well the liver is functioning. High blood creatinine levels suggest chronic illnesses or diseases.
