Blood Culture and Sensitivity
(Blood C & S)

Blood culture and sensitivity is done when you have a severe bacterial infection in your blood, and is used to identify the bacteria causing the infection and to identify the antibiotic that will be most effective for treating the infection. Multiple cultures may be done to monitor how well you are responding to treatment.
